DENVER — June 29, 2016 Many will celebrate our nation’s independence this 4th of July holiday with fireworks, barbeques, and family gatherings. The Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control (DFPC) wants to remind everyone to keep fire safety in mind this holiday weekend.


Denver — June 16, 2016 — The Division of Fire Prevention and Control (DFPC) will be sending resources to the State of New Mexico to assist with the current wildfire situation.


Denver — May 27, 2016 — Whether enjoying a backyard barbecue or camping out, the Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control (DFPC) reminds everyone to keep fire safety in mind this holiday weekend.


Denver — April 25, 2016 — The Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control (DFPC) will conduct helicopter-based fire suppression training May 13-19 near Longmont.


Denver — April 25, 2016 — The Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control (DFPC) will be conducting Helicopter Crewmember training during the week of April 25-April 29 in Montrose


Denver — April 25, 2016 — The Governor’s annual wildfire briefing has been scheduled for Tuesday, April 26. The Director of the Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control will brief the Governor on the Wildfire Potential for 2016 and the level of state preparedness in a private briefing beginning at 10:30 a.m. at the Colorado State Capitol.


Building Safety Month 2016: Governor's Proclamation

Denver — March 31, 2016 —Building Safety Month is a public awareness campaign to help individuals, families and businesses understand what it takes to create safe and sustainable structures. The campaign reinforces the need for adoption of modern, model building codes, a strong and efficient system of code enforcement and a well-trained, professional workforce to maintain the system.



Denver — March 16, 2016 — The Executive Director of the Colorado Department of Public Safety, Stan Hilkey, today announced the selection of Chief Mike Morgan of Colorado River Fire Rescue to become the next Director of the Division of Fire Prevention and Control (DFPC). On February 1, 2016, current DFPC Director, Paul Cooke, announced his plan to retire from the Colorado fire service, culminating a 41 year career in fire and emergency services.


Denver — February 18, 2016 — The Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control (DFPC) is reminding Coloradans and visitors to the state to take precautions to prevent wildfires especially with the unusually warm and dry weather conditions in the state.


Denver — February 5, 2016 — The Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control (DFPC) has deployed a new cloud-based Record Management System (RMS) for Firefighter certification and testing. The new system will go live February 9, 2016.


Monday, February 1, 2016 — After 35 years of service to the people of Colorado, Director Paul Cooke announced today that he would soon retire from the Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control.


October 28, 2015  – The DNR, in cooperation with the DFPC with the support of the CSFS, will be burning slash piles at the Bergen Peak State Wildlife near Evergreen, Colorado this week.
