Fire Suppression System Contractor Registration Procedures
In order to become registered as a fire suppression system contractor, the applicant must provide the Administrator (the Colorado Division of Fire Safety) proof of the following:
- The applicant is a principal of the company as defined in Colorado Revised Statutes 24-33.5-1202 (8).
- The company shall be recorded and in "good standing" with the Colorado Secretary of State's Office.
- New and renewing applicant's must provide documented proof of this status. Click HERE to find your company.
- The contractor must complete all parts of the online application and upload all required documentation.
- The application is an official document legally binding the contractor to the provisions of Colorado Revised Statutes and all rules adopted by the administrator.
- The applicant shall comply with all applicable codes and standards (C.R.S. 24-33.5-1206.1) adopted by the administrator and all codes, ordinances and resolutions adopted by municipalities, counties and fire protection districts.
- The applicant has current general liability insurance (Section 3.2.1) that includes products and completed operations coverage related to the installation of sprinkler systems.
- The principal of the company shall fill out and have notorized the Principal Acknowledgment Form.
- If this is a new application (first time registrant) complete and upload a notorized Affidavit of Legal Residency as required in Colorado Revised Statutes 24-76.5-103(4)(b).
- Contractors who are renewing a certification from last year do not need to fill out an Affidavit of Legal Residency; UNLESS, there has been a change in the organization's Principal.
- The documentation of qualifications required, shall be one of the following:
- The applicant must provide the administrator with documentation that they have a Responsible Managing Employee (NICET III/IV or Professional Engineer (P.E.) working within their training and education).

- If the contractor does not employ a Responsible Managing Employee, the applicant must demonstrate to the administrator that they have met equivalent qualifications including education, training and experience. The documentation submitted shall be relevant to the fire suppression industry.

- All 2012 registration certificates shall be emailed back using the email address you provided on your application.
